REMEMBERING D-DAY « Result #7 on Jun 4, 2010, 9:36pm »
HEY Y'ALL, WITH THE ANNIVERSARY OF D-DAY COMING UP I THOUGHT I'D SHARE SOMETHING WITH YA. IT'S A SONG I WROTE IN HONOR OF THOSE BRAVE MEN WHO GAVE IT ALL THAT DAY IN DEFENSE OF WHAT WE TAKE FOR GRANTED EVERY DAY...FREEDOM. I HAVEN'T PUT ANY MUSIC TO IT YET SO I'LL GIVE IT TO YA IN THE FORM OF A POEM. HOPE YA LIKE IT. IT'S TITLED... ''THAT BEACH NAMED OMAHA''
IT WAS A CLOUDY, WINDY MORNING ON JUNE THE 6th OF 1944 THEY STOOD SHOULDER TO SHOULDER IN A HIGGINS BOAT ABOUT TO GET THEIR FIRST TASTE OF WAR
16 INCH SHELLS FROM THE BATTLESHIP GUNS HAMMERED THE MIGHTY ATLANTIC WALL AS THEY HEADED STRAIGHT INTO HELL TOWARD THAT BEACH NAMED OMAHA
WHEN THE RAMP CAME DOWN, MACHINE GUN ROUNDS CUT THROUGH THEM LIKE A SWARM OF BEES AND THE SEA TURNED RED WHILE BOYS LAY DYING OR DEAD AS FAR AS THE EYE COULD SEE
SOME PRAYED TO GOD, OTHERS CRIED FOR THEIR MOTHERS AS ONE BY ONE THEY'D FALL WHEN BOYS BECAME MEN THAT DAY ON THAT BEACH NAMED OMAHA
WHILE GERMAN GUNS BLAZED FROM THE CLIFFTOPS DEALING DEATH AND CARNAGE ALL AROUND THOSE BOYS FOUGHT FOR THEIR LIVES AND DIED YARD BY YARD WHILE THE GERMAN 88s RAINED DOWN
THROUGH A GAUNTLET OF HELL FIRE, BLOOD, SAND, AND BARBED WIRE DOWN ON THEIR BELLIES THEY CRAWLED WHEN BOYS BECAME MEN THAT DAY ON THAT BEACH NAMED OMAHA
THEIR SARGENT CRIED BOYS, WE GOTTA KEEP MOVIN' AND LED THEM AS THEY STORMED THE SEA WALL THROUGH POT MINES, TRIP WIRES, AND A MURDEROUS CROSSFIRE BY THE GRACE OF GOD MOST MADE IT UP THE DRAW
IT NEVER WAS IN DOUBT, TOTAL VICTORY WAS DESTINED BUT IT CAME AT A BITTER COST WHEN BOYS BECAME MEN THAT DAY ON THAT BEACH NAMED OMAHA

Well I'm getting a little closer. I caught this one a couple weeks ago, it would be nice to get a nice one when I'm actually fishing for them. All in all it's still a baby at just over 6 pounds.
